ArcelorMittal’s fun (and safe!) summer camps in Ukraine
Every summer, children of ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih employees have the opportunity to leave their routine behind and enjoy a carefree summer, bathing in the Azov and Black Seas with their friends and participating in different sports and entertainment activities organised for them at the camps.
“I counted the days till departure,” explained one of the little participants, 8-year old Daniil Nikulin. “My mother is a bit anxious because I am going to the camp for the first time but it is so interesting for me! I have a friend who is coming as well. His name is Dima. We are going to swim in the sea, go do sports and have fun.” Dima Mironenko got the opportunity to attend the camp through his grandmother Lubov Mironenko, who worked in the Repair Construction Shop for 40 years.
But this year also brings ‘healthy’ news: according to a new initiative, all children at the camps have been involved in a special health insurance programme entitled ‘Safe summer’. This programme is providing insurance for over 5,000 children of ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih employees while they are at the camps.
In line with its commitment to supporting its communities, ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih does not only care for the well-being of its own employees’ children, but also for that of the less privileged. On the occasion of International Children’s Day on June 1st, sports competitions were held at Kryviy Rih recreational facility for the foster children at the social and psychological rehabilitation centre. Volunteers from ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih helped the children to feel the joy in taking part in these activities.
