From science to science fictionDuring the day, he works as a scientist at our Group’s Research Centre in East Chicago. After work, he imagines other worlds and brings them to ‘reality’… on paper. Our colleague Ted Kosmatka has just made the front cover of Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine, October/November 2009 issue.

Ted’s new science fiction story is the fifth one to the magazine. However, this is his debut on the cover.

His story, co-written with Michael Poore and entitled “Blood Dauber”, begins as a casual conversation but quickly grows into a plot jotted down on a massive series of color-coded Post-it notes taped across several tables in a café. Over the next month, it evolves into a compelling and dangerous tale…

Ted’s works have been serialised on a radio programme called “Beam Me Up”, reprinted in 6 Year’s Best anthologies, and translated into Russian, Hebrew, Polish and Czech. Congratulations Ted!
