Good bye Parus, see you next summer…
Where would you place the white sandy beach in the picture? The Caribbean, perhaps? Not quite! This ArcelorMittal tent can be found by the very blue Black Sea, where 2,080 children of Ukrainian colleagues enjoyed a few days of holidays at ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih’s Camp Parus.
A few days ago we reported on the Scouts of Zenica in Bosnia Herzegovina. Today, we travel a bit further east to the Black Sea where the 42nd annual summer camp organised by ArcelorMittal in Ukraine has just come to an end. During hot summer days, the young participants enjoyed a rest, swam in the sea, met new friends and showed off their many talents…
“The children have learned to make creative things with flour and salt and beautiful crafts with paper plastic or beads,” says Parus Camp Director Tatiana Belikova. The covered summer stage was repaired and new tents were erected on the beach to protect from the sun’s hot rays. Every year, teachers, cooks and other organizers are employed at Parus to create fun in the sun for the children.
Participants tell us that the closure of the 42nd camp was bright and colourful – full of songs, dances and fireworks. Children and their teachers took part in the stage show. Finally, all sat around the fire and said: “Good bye Parus, see you again…” Next summer!
