Summer holidays supported by ArcelorMittal Zenica

800 children + a lot of tents + a beautiful lake + ArcelorMittal = A good summery combination. Every year, the Scouts of Zenica, in Bosnia Herzegovina, organise a summer holiday for 800 children of Zenica in the Scout Camp on Borci Lake, some 250 km south of Zenica. In the last 3 years, ArcelorMittal Zenica and the ArcelorMittal Foundation have supported this initiative to promote sport, health and culture among the young members of the local community.
So what was our contribution? ArcelorMittal provided new tents, t-shirts and mesh for a new fence around the camp. In addition, the Company covered accommodation costs for approximately 100 children of ArcelorMittal Zenica’s employees, who were able to spend their holidays at the camp.
In July, the young Scouts were visited twice by the site’s management and representatives of the trade union. They were able to check on the spot how the children enjoyed the life in the camp – swimming in the lake, sports on various sport-yards, evening music and dancing around the campfire.
For many of the youngest of Zenica’s citizens, their summer holiday will be an unforgettable experience… and ArcelorMittal Zenica is proud to be a part of that memory!
