Steel generations XVIII – The quest for harmony
After presenting to you colleagues from Poland, the US and Algeria over the past weeks, the time has come to meet another colleague: Miroslav Kim from ArcelorMittal Temirtau, Kazakhstan. With a total of 6 people and 84 man-years spent working in the plant, Miroslav undoubtedly has a long steel tradition within his family. Let’s get to know him better…
Miroslaw has been working at the Temirtau plant for 30 years now. Straightforward, honest and communicative – these are the adjectives his colleagues would use to describe him. However, his most characteristic trait is his loyalty: a selfless loyalty to his work, his wife and his children.
In fact, family and work are seamlessly linked in his life, even more so as 5 other members of his family are currently working with him: his wife, his sister, his two brothers and his brother-in-law, all of them working in different areas at ArcelorMittal Temirtau.
However, Miroslaw’s career path did not directly lead him to our industry. After graduating from a technical college as a refiner operator, he started working but then enlisted in the army, driven by his dream of becoming a pilot. Today, Miroslaw works as a senior operator in the coiling sector.
Even though his dream of flying has never come true, Miroslav is happy to be working and to come back home every night to his loving family. But he still has many dreams. “I feel that I still need to do something to obtain harmony, but exactly what I don’t know yet. What I do know is that I need to provide the carefree education for my children, see my grandchildren – and even better – my great grandchildren grow.”
