Steel generations – Meet Frank Mrozek“My name is Frank Mrozek and I work for ArcelorMittal Cleveland, USA. I’ve been in crane repair since summer 1969. We were called The Bullgang until recently. My father, grandfather (John/Jan Mrozek) and uncles Joe and Anthony all worked in the steel industry as well. I have 2 cousins working here also. Is steel running in my family’s blood?

I’d say it’s more a matter of being good strong workers with our hands, being able to acquire the mechanical knowledge. Our family always stuck around when there was a break down. They would call us in to work all hours of the night for a break down and we would come in. This job has always a good job with good benefits and good working people.

I would like to get in contact with the Mrozek’s in Poland to see if we are related. If we are, to find out about my family. Maybe even find out if my great-grandfather may have worked in a steel mill! However, I don’t speak or write Polish. I feel bad: my grandfather could speak and write several languages…

I am passionate about steel. We work in a mill that makes some of the best steel in the world. We keep the equipment running so we can achieve this goal. Our site has been idle since October. I hope they restart this mill so we can continue this tradition. I have a son who is 14 years old: I’d like to see him continue the family tradition of working in the mill.”
