The man who waited for the bus for 1 month and a half
The other day some colleagues, mainly from Argentina, received a very special message from Jorge Alberto Cejas. He has been working at Acindar, our Argentinean subsidiary, for 3 decades. As a farewell note before his retirement he listed some curious facts and interesting thoughts that we wanted to share here:
“Dear all: The moment has arrived. During a career spanning 30 years, 9 months and 20 days, I have spent a total of 6 years working, 2 years in the night shift and more than 9 years away from home traveling by bus. And now, I will stop working for the company.
This Group gave me many things. Beyond some telling-offs, I am leaving with great memories of the many friends I made during all these years.
It is difficult to express what I feel in this moment, but my desire to understand new things remains intact, as intact as the very 1st day I started working at Direct Reduced Iron on June 8, 1978. I am taking with me knowledge, experience, but the most valuable thing is the warmth of comradeship achieved all the times that I have worked in a team. What I studied and investigated, I do not keep for myself. If, from my position of ex-employee, I can keep on contributing everything that I can to those who stay, I will do it with pleasure.
Ah, I almost forgot: If it took me 10 minutes on average to wait for the bus to the plant, I spent in all more than 1 month and a half waiting at the bus stop.”
Estimado Jorge: ¡mucha suerte en esta nueva etapa! (Good luck in this new stage!).
