Destination Dream
Imagine a world where all your dreams come true and where your imagination has no limits. On January 27 2009, the ‘Dreeminsel’ was inaugurated at the Kriibskrank Kanner foundation in Strassen, Luxembourg. This project, financed by the ArcelorMittal Foundation, has been designed especially for children suffering from cancer and has proved to be a real success among the kids.
The Kriibskrank Kanner foundation, which is currently caring for 88 kids affected by different sorts of cancer, aims to give children the chance to forget about their disease for a moment. The children are invited to use all of their senses in a fantastic environment.
The ‘Dreeminsel’ space is equipped with a heated water mattress, sparkling lights, big, comfortable pillows, massage balls and many other highlights, to make the kids feel as comfortable and as cosy as possible. Its special design is based on a therapeutic concept called ‘snoezel’ (from the Dutch words for sniffing and dozing).
Inside this magical world, I met Jérôme, a little visitor to the foundation. Listening to his favorite fairy tale, he was mesmerised by the colourful bubble columns. The happiness in his face made me feel proud of ArcelorMittal for supporting such a wonderful project, which shows us again how important it is to take responsibility for transforming tomorrow.
