Rising to the OHSAS challengeIt takes months of hard work to put the right tools in place, days of thorough scrutiny by external auditors, a sustained determination to keep on improving our performance. And guiding all this, a strong commitment to our top priority: Health and Safety. No wonder that when one of our sites obtains the OHSAS certification, you can see the pride in the faces of our colleagues!

We have recently learnt that this is the case of 18 Stainless sites (all the industrial facilities of the segment!), ArcelorMittal Ostrava, in the Czech Republic, and Hunedoara, in Romania.

Obtaining the OHSAS certification is a big achievement for these sites. Why? Because it means that their occupational Health and Safety management systems comply with the worldwide recognised standards.

But, as our colleague Johathan Kuhry, Health and Safety Coordinator for the Stainless segment says, “OHSAS 18001 certification should not merely be considered as a diploma at the service of our company’s image. It has to be considered as a powerful tool that will allow some units to maintain their excellent results on one hand, and help other units to improve their results on the other hand.”

Congratulations for all our “certified” colleagues and keep on the good work: The journey to excellence has no end…
