John Lagodny zooms on his cross-car

John, 43, has been working in ArcelorMittal Bissen (WireSolutions) for 22 years. With his quiet appearance, it is difficult to imagine that he spends all his free time travelling across Europe to practice his passion: cross-car!

John’s first race dates back to 1985; “it was the golden age of cross-car in Luxembourg. What wonderful memories I have kept, unfortunately, this sport fell into oblivion in Luxembourg in 1990. Then, I decided to practice in the Netherlands and Belgium. Until 2007, I have participated in national competitions.” John has won several titles including Slovakia, Belgium, Holland and Italy.

Last year he participated for the first time in the European championship of cross-car. “The championship is composed of eleven races organised in nine different countries. It was a very rewarding experience. I came in the sixth position, now my main objective is to be the first!”

For each competition, John’s team “Peter’s Autosport” is composed of two mechanics, a sponsor and himself as the official driver. “We travel in a truck and use it like a workshop during competitions. The first tests allow us to perfect machine adjustments, it is also the only time where I can train and test the buggy.” Peter’s buggy (in photo) is equipped with a Suzuki Hayabusa engine of 1,300cc, 225 hp and weights 475 kg.

His wife and daughter love to come along and support him when they can!
