(Arcelor)Mittal… tea?
This week in New Delhi our Group is holding its Leadership Conference 2008, the annual gathering of our 650 main decision-makers. The capital of modern India, with its burning desire to keep on modernising, is awaiting all the participants, ready to offer its feast for the senses (sights, smells and colours)… and some curious surprises!
On our first day and before the conference began, Mary, Daniel and myself, who are part of the Internal Communications team covering the event, had the opportunity to visit one of the very few markets which were open on Sunday. Our noses lead us to a tiny and cozy shop of exotic scents, spices and teas. Behind the counter was the smiling person in the picture. And behind him, hundreds of little boxes of all sizes and colours, containing all sorts of teas you could imagine: Darjeeling, Assam, white, mint…
And on all these boxes, the same word. Guess what’s the name of a famous India tea brand? Mittal’s! Of course, nothing to do with our Chairman and CEO, but it was an interesting discovery to kick-off what promises to be an interesting conference week.
Our Group’s employees can follow daily the news on the conference on our intranet site – the next best thing to being here. Greetings from India to our all blog friends!
