Safety + Leonardo + Youth + Etxebarri = Success!
For 2 weeks our ArcelorMittal Etxebarri site, in Spain, hosted a group of French students engaged in technical electro-mechanical projects. Occupational Safety was one of the focuses of their stay. This cooperation between business and training centres is part of the Leonardo Project, funded and backed by the European Union.
The 6 boys and 1 girl who made up the group were aged 18 to 19. They came with the objective of supplementing their academic training by acquiring a more practical outlook on what they had learned.
Why did they choose ArcelorMittal? Michel Peneau, the promoter of the scheme at the training centre, explained: “because we were attracted by the size of the Group and its position in Europe, and after our experience over this fortnight we believe that we made the right choice”.
On their part, our management emphasised “the enriching experience of sharing our time with these young people, to help their training and heighten their awareness in the important field of occupational Safety”.
When the time came to say goodbye the atmosphere was cordial and relaxed. Both sides went away with the feeling that the experience had been highly successful. That’s usually the case with a good formula in place!
