Capturing the sounds of steelIf you have ever been in a steel plant, you already know that the steelmaking process is like a feast for the senses: fire, colours, noise, heat… Today we present you how a group of artists have captured part of all that in our Romanian site of Galati.

Since July 9, two ‘studio-boats’ are navigating upstream on the Rhine and the Danube with more than 30 international artists on board. On July 11, they made a stop at our Galati site, in Romania, where they visited the facilities and recorded typical sounds of the steel production process.

The European Sound Delta project is lead by a group of artists in the domains of sound and radio art. They are traversing 11 European countries looking for new sound territories to explore… such as ArcelorMittal Galati!

During their visit to the plant, the artists interviewed some of our colleagues, made a shooting for a future documentary and recorded typical sounds at the blast furnace, the steel making shop and the plate mill.

We received the amazing pictures you see here from our colleagues in Romania. If the sound project resulting from the visit is as good as these images, then we can certainly expect some nice pieces of industrial music!
