The story of a new lifeCan someone be born twice? For Carlos Santilli, who for 29 years has been working in the warehouse at our site in Villa Constitución, Argentina, the answer is ‘yes’.

For 5 years, due to kidney problems, Carlos underwent dialysis treatment three times a week. At the medical centre he saw that most of the people in his situation had lost their jobs or retired. “However, my colleagues have always supported me,” Carlos explains. “I didn’t want to retire because I still feel young and want to keep on working.”

Things changed for the better on December 2, 2007. Carlos was watching a Boca football match when the telephone rang: they were offering him a transplant! Less than 12 hours after the intervention, the kidney started to work. Three months later, Carlos was back at the warehouse.

“I was looking forward so much to this day, I was happy to come back, this is my place,” Carlos said. “I have started a new life and every minute I feel thankful to all these people who helped me pull through.”

En Argentina el 30 de mayo es el día del Donante de Órganos.
Una oportunidad para reflexionar sobre el tema, tomando el caso de Carlos como un ejemplo del bien que podemos hacer con nuestra adhesión.

In Argentina May 30th is a Organ Donation National Day, we have the chance today to think about our commitment taking in consideration Carlos’ experiencience.
