At a solidarity Marathon in Argentina
Getting up early on a Sunday morning was not a difficult task for our colleague runners from Argentina. Their trainers were laced up rightly, their dry-fit t-shirts boasted numbers on their chests, and the runners’ minds were on the competition that was about to start. And all this, for a very good cause…
22 colleagues from Argentina participated on May 4 in an annual marathon that gathered runners from the main companies to help the most important children’s hospital in the country: all the money collected from the registration fees was donated to Hospital de Niños Ricardo Gutiérrez Cooperative and Garrahan Foundation in Buenos Aires.
And our runners had to run… even to register! “When I tried to register, I was told there weren’t any places left. I wanted to cry,” explains Damián Toledo, Tablada facility Operator. Actually, the places allotted for ArcelorMittal Acindar participants were gone in less than 1 hour after the invitation was launched. But finally, all of them could participate, including 3 female athletes from the Company who rose to the challenge and completed the competition successfully.
Whether to break their own records, to do physical exercise, or just to arrive at the finishing line, our runners showed their efforts and commitment to a good cause. ¡Felicidades a todos!

I was very pleased to participate on the marathon to help those hospitals, and it was a chalenge itself for me because it was my first time at a marathon.Marcos Veron Acindar Argentina

Well done, Marcos! You know? After publishing this note, I dreamt that I had run the marathon myself…
