At the Energy Star Partner of the Year Awards
ArcelorMittal USA took centre stage with household name companies – including Home Depot, JC Penney, PepsiCo and Toyota – at the 2008 Energy Star Partner of the Year Awards held April 1, 2008.
More than 800 attendees representing the US Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy along with award-winning companies from all sectors of the US economy filled the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel ballroom in Washington DC. There, ArcelorMittal USA was recognised as an Energy Star Partner of the Year for Energy Management, becoming the first steel company to ever be recognised as an Energy Star Partner.
In 2006, ArcelorMittal embarked on a three-year plan to reduce energy intensity in its US operations by 6 percent. Our Company achieved nearly half the savings in year one and committed to an ongoing energy management process. Larry Fabina, Energy Conservation Program coordinator for ArcelorMittal USA, said that the company will be back next year to accept yet another award from the Energy Star program. We’ll hold you to that, Larry!
