Two firsts for the month of March!
It’s been a pretty good month so far for everyone at ArcelorMittal! First we got word that, according to this year’s Fortune magazine list of industry champions, our company is the Most Admired Company in the Metals sector. All praise is welcome, but it’s particularly sweet when it comes from one’s peers and so soon after our successful merger.
While it doesn’t mean we should not continue to aim high, we can pause a moment and reflect that our 310,000 team is working together and doing a great job at it!
In addition, ArcelorMittal USA was named a 2008 Partner of the Year for Energy Management by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, for our outstanding contributions to protecting the environment and reducing greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency. That makes us the first steel company ever to achieve the distinction.
When the U.S. EPA honors ArcelorMittal on April 1, 2008, in Washington, D.C. our colleague Mary Beth Holdford tells us she will attend the awards ceremony, take photos and provide us with a blog post on the event. Thanks Mary Beth, we are looking forward to your impressions!
