How Differdange in Luxembourg celebrated Health and Safety Day
As you know, last week, on March 6, our second Health and Safety Day took place in all our plants around the world and of course also in Differdange here in Luxembourg. That is also the site where the jumbo steel beams for the Freedom Towers were produced (check out episode 3 if you want to learn more!).
Every site is different in its own way. One of the points highlighted by the people in Differdange during the day was equipment. During one workshop for example, ladders were displayed to show us how to use them safely. You might say that this should be like second nature to everyone, but if the ladder a person is using is not up to standard or is used incorrectly, it’s an accident waiting to happen!
H&S Day is not just an event like any other, as it deals with serious issues concerning all of us. The aim is to change people’s way of looking at the risks and procedures in their everyday jobs and to make them aware of how they can protect themselves and the people around them.
At ArcelorMittal Differdange they take this issue so seriously that they have expanded H&S Day into a two day event of presentations to give everyone the chance to participate! A great initiative!
