ArcelorMittal volunteers in BrazilSeven years ago, Long Carbon Steel sowed its pro-volunteer seeds in all units in Brazil. Through this programme, ArcelorMittal Brasil encourages volunteer work among all employees, thus promoting the exercise of citizenship. Currently, 15% of its personnel take part in some volunteer activity. A good initiative to be spread throughout the Group!

ArcelorMittal volunteer employees are active as educators and painters, they help in children’s day-care centres, carry out some asphalt paving, support the management of social institutions, promote campaigns or visit hospitals and nursing homes, to name just a few initiatives. All volunteers undergo training and participate in actions helping to improve the quality of life for children, teenagers, elderly and families socially at risk. Special attention is given to the communities where employees live.

Through actions such as these ArcelorMittal Brasil volunteers fulfil their objectives of transforming social reality and developing activities with continuity and effective results.

Collaboration: João Bosco Reis da Silva, ArcelorMittal Foundation
