ArcelorMittal Dunkerque Continuous Casting machine restarts (France)
On Monday, February 4 2008, the continuous casting machine CC22 of ArcelorMittal Dunkerque in France restarted after 91 days of relining. This relining took place in the framework of the project ‘Steel plant of the Future’, which will increase the production capacity of ArcelorMittal Dunkerque. It will also enhance economic competitiveness and improve the quality of the products for customer service.
It is the second step of the 3 continuous casting machines relining programme. Contrary to the CC23 and to the next CC21 rebuilt in “vertical bend”, the continuous casting 22 stayed “bend”, with technologies like “watering by atomisation” and “divided rolls” for specialised products like High Silicon, High Carbon or High Strength steels.
The building site required 200,000 working hours for the team, composed by in-house workers and subcontractors. A Safety challenge was awarded to subcontractors for good behaviour each week. The Safety results for the building site are excellent, with zero accidents.

Congratulations Dunkerque! Zero accidents is a fantastic feat considering the scope of work completed. Way to think outside of the box with the projects weekly safety challenge awards.

Can you please send me the list of steel mills under ArcelorMittal group mentioning the capacity to melt ; no of EAF and LF.
I am doing a project on ArcelorMittal group’s steel producing capabilities location and countrywise.
I have not been able to get the complete details in one place and am not sure if the same is authentic considering what I am reading in the NEWS.
I had earlier written to International communication centre of the group but have not received any reply.
I would appreciate if some one acknowledges my mail.
Regards
