ArcelorMittal invests in
-
Martin Simard
On May 29, 2008, the 51-year-old company Québec Cartier Mining changed its brand name for ArcelorMittal Mines Canada. Sixty days later, the ArcelorMittal brand rollout was completed and the entire face of the Company had changed.
Even though we had many different shareholders over the last haft century, we always kept our own brand name. And […]

This is a great news for Liberia and Africa in general. It time for multinational companies to invest in Africa despite the western media fight to stop it. This investment will reduce poverty and also reduce the unemployment rate in Liberia. I greatly support this direct investment because both parties will benefit. Thanks.

I am very appreciative of ArcelorMittal investments and commitment to Liberia. It will help to jump start the Liberian economy and bring hope to the many unemployed.
It will also open the door for other investors to come in and partake in the many investments opportunities in Liberia.

I want to personally express my satisfaction and joy for the Arcelor Mittal Steel Co. who have come not only to invest in my Motherland, Liberia, but to also lift it out of abject poverty, degradation and help transform it working in partnership with our robust and hard working government headed our Dear Mother Her Excellency, Ellen Sirleaf.
After watching the clip on what this great investor is beginning to do and plans to do in the future, wow, I foresee Liberia becoming the envy of nations. For the task of educating and shaping a new generation of minds and seeking after the well-being of the populace, and much more going an extra mile of making sure that the heads of families working them constantly put bread on their tables leaves one to wonder what’s more should we say, but to thank the God of Mittal. May God prosper the works of your hands and cause your vision of helping to transform Liberia into a modern nation to come to pass.

I am truly amazed, this is an all Liberian dream to come true, the great Job opportunity will not only take care of poverty, but equally reduce the crime rate that have been inflated by the effect of the years of war. And bring happiness and lasting peace to SWEET LIBERIA in MAMA AFRICA. BRAVO ARCELORMITTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Development and sustainability is all about good governance and private sector investment, as long as this interaction prioritizes the well being of the Liberian people. Education should be free, and so access to at least basic primary and secondary health services for workers and district population.

I was very lucky to have grown up in Nimba. My father worked for LAMCO the company which run the original mine, hospital and schools. I was a great place and it was heart breaking to see it closed, overgrown and unloved. I know that a speek for everyone who ever lived or visited when I say thank you to ArcelorMittal for not only mining but to have spent so much time, thought and money on returning it to it former glory. They have reopened hospitals & schools and are taking care of the people who have sufferd so much. I know that it will not only be iron ore being shipped out but there will be loads of us original Nimba expats who will return not only to work but also to come “home” for a visit.
Thank you.

After watching this clip, I cannot express how proud I am to work for a company that is making this kind of difference in poor nations around the world. I hope the story in Liberia can be repeated for other African nations in the future.
Truly commendable work. We should all feel proud!

It is heartening to see investment once again going to Yekepa but I think Mittal will have to do an awful lot better to even come close to the LAMCO era, speaking as someone who lived there at that time. I don’t think 1.5 billion dollars will be enough.
