ArcelorMittal Hamilton recognised for achievements in energy efficiency (Canada)
The Government of Canada has recognised ArcelorMittal Hamilton, Dofasco Facility, for its significant and innovative contributions to energy efficiency.
The company was recently awarded the Canadian Industry Program for Energy Conservation (CIPEC) Energy Efficiency Leadership Award for its work on a modelling tool that helps departments understand the impact of their decisions on the whole facility’s energy and Greenhouse Gas profile in a simple and timely manner.
The tool is already helping the company achieve its goal to improve corporate energy intensity by 10 percent by 2010, energy efficiency being a top priority of ArcelorMittal’s Corporate Social Responsibility. Operating departments use the tool to report their energy performance against targets to senior management. Aggregated plant energy performance for reporting and assessment is also easily determined.
David Anderson, Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Natural Resources Canada, congratulated the award winners and said that their commitment was truly a model for Canada’s industrial sector.
Congratulations to ArcelorMittal Hamilton!
