On October 18 2007, Jean-Yves Gilet, EVP ArcelorMittal and CEO Stainless, officially opened a new stainless steel flat products service centre of its subsidiary, ArcelorMittal Stainless Service Poland. It is located in Siemianowice Śląskie, north of Katowice.

The construction of this new processing unit, dedicated to the automotive, domestic electrical appliance, construction and general industry markets, was completed within 9 months, the speed of the project execution reflecting ArcelorMittal’s commitment to enhance its service in Central Europe.

This 10 million euro project forms part of the plan for the expansion of the ArcelorMittal Stainless Europe distribution network, which constitutes a major factor in its competitiveness.

The Steel Services Centre (SSC) distributes the entire ArcelorMittal Europe Stainless offer, and in particular the Ferritics range. The site with a capacity of 75,000 t incorporates a slitter, a cut-to-length line and a polisher. Further extensions are planned commencing in 2010. In due course, the SSC will employ more than 100 people.
