HR Road Show in Romania
Bernard Fontana, EVP, Head of Human Resources, continued his Leadership Journey to ArcelorMittal locations around the world by visiting Romania from September 19- 21, 2007.
During his visit the Head of HR met with local managers and HR managers from the ArcelorMittal units. Mr Fontana said that Romania was an excellent basin for the recruitment of young talent to work in the industry, for Galati and other ArcelorMittal units worldwide. He also said that the wages were expected to grow but in respect to a necessary positive high productivity trend.
One of the most important HR Department jobs at the Galati unit is to train metallurgy specialists. Mr Fontana explained that in Romania employees would be trained both for ArcelorMittal’s Romanian projects and for other projects elsewhere, adding that the company had joined in partnership with three local universities, to attract the best specialists, the latter being one of ArcelorMittal’s top priorities.
ArcelorMittal Galati is organising permanent training classes for the employees in the new Training Centre, which opened this year. Up to 9,000 employees will attend the training projects in 2007.
