Roeland Baan resigns from ArcelorMittal (South Africa)
ArcelorMittal announced on July 30 that Roeland Baan, EVP with responsibility for Pipes and Tubes and South Africa, will step down from his responsibilities.
Mr Baan joined Mittal Steel in September 2004 as CEO of Mittal Steel Europe with responsibility for integrating the company’s European facilities. He played a key role in Mittal’s merger with Arcelor, with particular focus on European labour and media relations. Following the merger he was appointed Executive Vice President and a Member of the Management Committee.
Mr Baan said that he had experienced some very exciting professional challenges and opportunities during his time with ArcelorMittal and that he was proud to have been a part of the company during such an exciting period of its growth.
Group Management Board member Mr Malay Mukherjee thanked him on behalf of the GMB for his substantial contribution to ArcelorMittal over the past three years, most specifically for his successful integration of the Central and Eastern European assets, which form an important part of ArcelorMittal’s European business today.
