ArcelorMittal reports record results for the second quarter and first half 2007

ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest and most global steel company, has announced the results for the three and six month periods that ended June 30, 2007.

Highlights were record quarterly and half-year results and an operating income of $7.7 billion, equalling a 50% increase.

Commenting, Lakshmi N. Mittal, ArcelorMittal President and CEO, said that these results were driven by a strong demand for steel combined with higher selling prices in all the major segments, adding that the company was anticipating a robust end to the year supported by the strength of its unique global and diversified business model.

He also said that the company was continuing to make good progress with its three-dimensional growth strategy, and that one year on from the merger, the company had made excellent progress in effecting a successful integration and that is was well positioned for the future.
