Aditya Mittal and Malay Mukherjee visited three Brazilian units of the company over a period of two days in August. The two ArcelorMittal GMB Members visited the facilities at ArcelorMittal Tubarão, which has recently increased its production capacity from 5 to 7.5 million tons of steel per year.

The two ArcelorMittal directors participated in meetings in order to assess the company’s results in the first half of the year. They also discussed the perspectives for the rest of 2007.

They arrived in Brazil on Thursday August 9 and went straight to ArcelorMittal Monlevade, the long steel production unit in Minas Gerais. There they were hosted by the CEO of Long Steel Americas, Carlo Panunzi, by the president of ArcelorMittal Belgo, Paulo Geraldo de Sousa, and by the company’s directors Gerson Menezes and Paulo Henrique de Souza.

Mr Mittal and Mr Mukherjee visited the facilities and attended a round of meetings to discuss matters regarding the sector. Next, they headed together with Lou Schorsch to the city of Timóteo, in the Steel Valley, in which they participated in activities at Acesita, the stainless unit, and met the company’s board.
