ArcelorMittal Etxebarri, Spain continues its advance towards business excellence. The World Class Manufacturing Association (WCM), an organisation that nurtures management excellence, has awarded the plant the bronze category. The final results are to be ratified in December, when an international jury will audit the various awards.

Entitlement to this award involves proving that the best criteria are applied in operations in all management areas. The certifying diploma is only obtained upon successful conclusion of the rigorous process laid down by the organisation.

After identifying the company’s scope for improvement in absolute terms and compared to those competitors who set the pace in each field, an action programme is established over the medium and long terms to achieve the results earmarked as desirable. Lastly, an assessment is made of the final outcome.

The WCM jury team were favourably impressed by the effort being put towards continuous improvement and the high level of engagement amongst the workforce as a whole. All this means that the Etxebarri plant is just one step away from earning this prestigious award.
