First slab rolled at ArcelorMittal Tubarao CCM#3 (Brazil)
On July 19 at 2:26 pm, the first pour of ArcelorMittal Tubarao’s Continuous ingot casting machine (CCM#3) took place, making 123 meters of sheets.
The operation of ArcelorMittal Tubarao’s Blast Furnace 3, the main piece of equipment of the company’s expansion project, started July 21, with the firing-up of the furnace.
The equipment incorporates all the latest technologies on the market, including modern and efficient environmental control systems, in addition to supermicroporous carbon block hearth, a cooling system with cooper staves, coneless top with three silos and state-of the-art control system to promote greater steel quality and productivity.
Representing an overall investment of 1 billion $, the expansion of ArcelorMittal Tubarao includes other new productive units and the installation of new equipment within the plant. The expansion will re-establish the offer of plates to the international market from this year on and enhance the company’s flexibility capacity, which, since 2002, transforms part of the plates into coiled hot-rolled strip.

It represents important step of developing industry in the state of Espirito Santo and Brasil.
It will contribute to increase the gneration of tax for the govern, and allows more satellite industry to be implemented.
