On June 5 Gonzalo Urquijo, member of the GMB, and Carlo Panunzi, member of the Management Committee responsible for Long Americas, visited Acindar, the ArcelorMittal long carbon steel (LCS) producer in Argentina. Together with Acindar’s top management, they toured the San Nicolas and Villa Constitución plants.

The progress in investment to enhance Acindar’s production capacity and the launch of the ArcelorMittal new brand identity were the main reasons of the visit. It was also a suitable occasion to strengthen relations with Acindar’s directors and managers, as well as with local union representatives.

Currently, an investment plan that will have Acindar produce from 1.4 to 1.7 annual million tonnes is being carried out. It implies important works at the Steel Shop layout, an extension of the Direct Reduction (DRI) Plant and a new Rolling Mill for SBQ bars and rod wires.
