Sharing the maintenance evolution (Spain)
25 specialists in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) from the Arcelor Mittal Group gathered at Aceria Compacta de Bizkaia on 10 and 11 May to study TPM best practices in the Group. This technique aims at maximising equipment effectiveness by minimising unplanned stoppages.
Aceria Compacta de Bizkaia welcomed the 25 members of the TPM Network in co-operation with Robert Dapère. Present at the meeting were representatives of French, Belgian, Italian, Luxembourgish, German and Spanish plants.
After the welcoming address from Robert Dapère and ACB General Manager for Industry Federico Castro, the visitors studied the application of professional maintenance at ACB at first hand before sharing suggestions concerning both plants. In the afternoon they visited the Etxebarri plant, which specialises in the manufacture of tin plate.
Friday was given over to autonomous and professional maintenance schemes and to a deployment of costs and quality as basic concepts of TPM. The participants said that their visit had been extremely useful and thanked both Etxebarri and ACB for the warm welcome that they had been given.
