About 40 participants from 30 locations, with operating responsibility for 38 Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF), came together from 23 to 26 April in ACB (Sestao, Spain) for the first Arcelor Mittal global Knowledge Management Programme (KMP) meeting.

Attendees shared successful improvement projects, compared operational performance, exchanged best practices, knowledge and experience and learnt about new technological developments. The Sestao meeting, focused on electric arc furnaces, discussed issues and challenges faced by nearly every participant. Drawing on the broad experience and diversity of the group, the key levers to drive improvement in each topic were debated.

Although the ultimate success of this meeting will only be seen once improvement ideas are implemented, the initial feedback from the participants shows that in provoking dialogue and in building a peer group, this first KMP meeting has been a fantastic success.
